Overview

In this unit, you will explore and apply an intersectional understanding of gender. You will examine the role and relationship of gender across disciplines, socio-cultural contexts and your own lived experiences. You will build your awareness of the power structures that impact your daily life by exploring the cultural debates around issues such as Motherhood, rethinking family, gender and work, victimisation, consent, and reproductive rights. You will reflect on your own experiences and observations and connect these to the theories and frameworks explored in the unit.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. A unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
