Overview

This unit introduces you to the practice and research of contemporary jewellery and object-based work and is taught through fine art and design methodologies. The emphasis in this unit is on engaging studio processes that combine making with critical thinking to explore a range of innovative approaches to jewellery and object-based work as contemporary cultural production and research. The process of making jewellery and objects is taught through the acquisition of a variety of skills and techniques that incorporate working with metal, wood and plastic in addition to a broad range of other materials and processes.

Assessment

1 - Mid-semester assessment - 40% 2 - Final Folio - 60%

Workload

12 hours per week including 4 contact hours plus 8 hours of independent study.
