Overview

This unit engages with the close visual analysis of selected feature films. While embracing theoretical concerns, the primary emphasis is on the artistic and visual context of film. Through the viewing and analysis of films, a range of themes, theories, practices and historical contexts will be explored. You will be set creative practice-based tasks that culminate in the production of a short moving image work or a cinema-informed artwork.

Assessment

1 - Storyboard - 25% 2 - Photo sequence - 25% 3 - Final project - 50%

Workload

12 hours per week including 4 contact hours plus 8 hours of independent study.
