Geopolitical Security In The Indo-Pacific

Overview

This unit will provide you with a wide-ranging introduction to the core geopolitical challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, including great power competition; emerging and middle powers; competing regional and international organisations; democratic versus authoritarian states; liberal versus illiberal values; developmental and human security challenges; climate change; and migration and refugee flows. In this unit, you will learn through case-study materials, in-class group discussions and presentations from specialists in the area. This unit will provide you with a wide-ranging introduction to the core geopolitical challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, including great power competition; emerging and middle powers; competing regional and international organisations; democratic versus authoritarian states; liberal versus illiberal values; developmental and human security challenges; climate change; and migration and refugee flows. Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
