Overview

We want you to have the best start to university life! From the moment you arrive on campus, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with peer mentors who will guide and support you through your first semester at Monash. You'll kick off university in a fun and supportive environment, building connections with your mentors, peers, and faculties. Your mentors will be students in their second year or above. Peer mentoring is run in small groups, with one-on-one mentoring available to eligible students.

Program details

The Peer Mentoring Program is run over four main catch ups throughout the semester which correspend with helpful topics including getting started at Monash, key support services, student life, navigating assessment and much more. Catch ups may be help either on campus or online with the option to attend a variety of in person and online student-led events.

Program structure

As a new undergraduate student, you'll be invited to connect with other first-year students from your faculty to receive mentoring support from a peer mentor in your first semester. One-on-one mentoring is also available for eligible students. Your mentor will be an experienced student from your faculty who can share knowledge, tips, and answer your questions about university life. They can show you how to use Monash platforms and where to find programs, resources, and services at Monash, so you can have an enjoyable and successful first year. By joining the Peer Mentoring program you’ll have the opportunity to attend fun Peer Mentoring events, make friends, learn about student clubs and societies, find out what’s on at Monash, and much more.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must: - Be a first-year undergraduate student. To get started, complete your Peer Mentoring profile form and we’ll start working on matching you with your mentoring group. Once you have been matched, you’ll be notified via your student email and your mentors will reach out to you via Moodle before Orientation Week. So keep an eye on your emails in the lead up to Orientation week!
